The Indian First World War memorial on the South Downs
Large numbers of Indian troops fought alongside the British in the trenches of the First World War. When severely injured they were often treated in a hospital in Brighton. This memorial to their sacrifice stands on the South Downs near Clayton within sight of Brighton.
