Fields of golden wheat growing on the slopes of the South Downs below the Long Man of Wilmington

I'd tried to capture this scene, as late in the growing season before the harvest as possible, in the previous two years but arrived to find fields of stubble.

Although significantly later than the previous 2 years, on this occasion the combine harvesters were working one field over to the east, and these fields were due to be harvested the following morning.
